Today i had attended a forum regarding Acts of Disabilities 2008 oganized by Bar Council. Initially, i went to attend because i went with Best Buddies advisor, as well as got to know more about disabilities...
The talk began with what is needed to be focus and changed in the Acts..there is 10% of population suffered from disabilities..the topic mostly focused on education, transportation, accessibility for disabled persons..
It was indeed eye opening for me..when the Q and A session started...
Everything is about...
Through their intonation of speech, could really feel their disappointment, anger, frustration, urge, and all sort of negative emotions toward the acts.
"It is just a piece of statement, without any implementation"
" Rapid KL has got new buses..however none of the buses think of the accessibility for disabled persons"
" There is no parking space for disabled persons, so it is unfair to receive penalty or either clamping car"
" One of the disabled persons has been excluded from the school after several months..even his mum donated money to the school"
A lot of heated discussion went on and on...
Although i got not much knowledge regarding the acts..but through this forum has made me even more aware of the needs of disabled persons...
We really can't ignore their existence..we should not discriminate them at all...
