Leadership

Leader - is born or made? I believe all the people have the potential to be a leader. When i went through training for DISC (a type of personality assessment), i have been told that each types of personality could be a great leader in their own way.

D - Dominance
I - Influencing
S - Steady
C - Conscientious

It doesnt mean that everyone only fit into 1 type of personality, however all types of personality could be within us, only the degree of each types is vary.

I used to be a follower. I not even dare to speak up in front of anyone, and i am introvert and quiet. So, my self esteem is very low.

When i started to study in university, i forced myself to mix with english speaker or international students, and i got no chance to escape from not speaking english. Because of that, my confidence increases, and at least now i can speak english better.

As i remembered, i trembled during the public speaking presentation. At last, i couldnt speak a word because i really extremely nervous. It was a lesson for me.

Now, i have improved myself. Hardly can see me to be a follower anymore. I am more opened up in sharing and discussing. I started to make myself as leader.

Everyone could be a leader if they want to learn. Thank you my fellow friends who have become a good model for me to learn. And also through their criticism and compliment, i know my strength and weaknesses.

Is leadership telling people what they want to hear or taking people where they need to be? if i only can choose 1, i will rather choose the 2nd 1. I always said a chairman is the soul of the club, society, and etc. A leader should be a good model for the follower to learn, and should criticise or give comment to the followers when it is needed because it is a process of learning. If the leader did not do so, then the person can't learn.

And yet, i might not be a perfect leader, but i also learn from my mistake. As long as you are willing to look at all the negative remark positively, you already one step ahead to become a better person.

  1. i guess, all of us are learning~ :)
Leadership, to some people, it's an innate thingy, but for some people, it can be trained. ^^ I think you're a good leader who take into consideration of your members. ^^ No worries. =) We learn from each other everyday. ^^

  2. To be a good leader or not?

Really, does all this define who we are? We act as a leader because we are forced or (some) volunteered to act upon that role. Being given a responsibility indicates that one has to be of a testament towards that responsibility. However, whether one is a good leader or not? It does not matter.

In this world full of biases, prejudice and nepotism:

There are individuals who are regarded as good leaders simply because they have many friends or supporters who says they are good leaders.

There are individuals who are regarded as good leaders simply because they are well in task delegations or capable of organizing a team.

And there are leaders who are simply good leaders because they are capable of being a good leader when they are required to. When situation requires it these individuals are capable of making the right choice. In most cases, these are people who are leaders because they don't hunger power, respect or acknowledgment.

To put it simply, Leadership does not mean leading - its more towards guiding. Its something one will naturally do when the situation requires it.

In most cases, we need a guide -a beacon who burns so brightly that it shows the way. Even if the beacon burns itself, it paves the paths for others to draw inspiration and sacrifice. That's what a leader is.

And to guide others - one should be oneself. I trust you are a good leader - because of your ability to be yourself. There are many out there who are yet to realize who they are.

    Goodnight

Recently learnt about emotion triangle, it said human tends to suppress core emotion, and manifested as either a defense or inhibitory emotion. The emotion that we tends to inhibit are shame, guilt ... There are fear and inferiority that governs my heart - I have to learn to address and admit my feelings better, and make a decision to communicate or set a boundary. It is hard to actually do so, and I know after I have done it - I can sense my guilt and shame. It is like a vicious cycle.  I have to make a promise to myself - be mindful, be steady and let my head clears. Don't react much...But at the same times I am glad that I did say something. I did express myself. I did feeling less intense. I treated it as a progress.  Anyway I felt sorry of the people that I hurt - when I am still a human with sin...

Full stop is not a Stop

My study has come to the full stop. After the submission of my final year project, I thought I will be delighted, yet I wasn't. I was apathetic. No more motivation to complete it, I already forgotten my achievement goals, I have given up. During the phase of life, I felt Life is just ain't about perfection. Imperfection in life is the essence of our growth. In order to grow, old proverb saying "no pain, no gain", it indeed applies to everyone of us. Being through thick and thin, sweat and tears, I started to realise that adaptation to sudden change is incredibly important. For instance, we have a goal to get a First Class Honour in our degree program, but our result speaks no to us. Is it show that we are stupid? Nope, it only tells us that it is a piece of paper which might granted us to obtain better job, yet which class you get is not the guarantee to get a better job. The end of college life, is the start of _______ life. People will fill in the blank themselves....
