Genre: Adventure, Animation
Producer: Pixar Animation Studios
This movie started off with a young shy guy, Carl Fredickson who fell in love with an eccentric girl, Ellie. Both of them are the super fan of Charles Muntz, the adventure explorer who proclaimed to bring back the live creature for his ruined reputation.
The love is just simple. "Cross your heart" - Ellie wanted Carl to promise to bring her to Paradise Falls where Muntz been to. Cross your heart is a swear that Carl made for Ellie. I was touched by their romance and love toward each others. When they were old, finally Carl managed to buy air fare to South America for his wife, sadly his wife died off. Carl was sturbornly refused to sell their cartoon dream house to developer, for no other reason, it is only how Carl showed his love toward Ellie. He was sturborn, but is all about love and promise that he has with his wife.
He was summoned to court for deliberately hurt other (the mail box was accidentally destroyed, and he got so furious). He forced to go to retirement home. "The adventure book" - a secret of Ellie who wanted to fill up her adventure to Paradise Fall in the book. He looked at it, and determined to bring their house to Paradise Fall.
Yes, he travel his house UP the sky. He used hellium ballon to make his house floated on the sky. UP - the dream has become one step nearer; UP - the below is just an ant, nothing to be worried about; UP - the emerge of courage and adventurous spirit; UP - the fulfillment of goal
Russell, another main character in the movie who tried to help Carl in order to get "Assiting The Elderly" badge to become a senior Wilderness explorer. He is innocent, talking non stop without further consideration, but he has a true heart. He speaks with his heart. A person who doesnt have any devil intention always win the battle at last.
I love him because his sacrifice toward nature. He wanted to protect Kevin (a female giant bird), and sent her back to her babies. He didnt stop trying, even the thing that he can't make it, for the sake of helping, he pulled through everything. I love his spirit.
Another funny apperance would be the talking dog, Dag. He was put on the signal bell by Muntz in order to trace Kevin. Dog is always faithful to the master, do so Dag. He regarded Carl as master, he didn't go even Carl scolded him as bad dog; he helped them to run away from the greedy and bad Muntz, and he stayed with them till the end.
Kevin, the giant bird nonetheless appeared to be a motherly creature. She saved them from the chase of Muntz. She wanted to get back to her babies as soon as possible even she was wounded. Mother, is always the best protection for babies, never failed.
A very short movie. Even the movie is lacking of excitement in between, I have gained insight from each character. What is the animation for? It is to educate people especially kids about the moral values in life. It is not only for entertainment, it depends on how we look at the purpope of film.
One day, I believe I will UP for my dream and never afraid to be failed because the victory is ain't just the result, is the process of doing it.
