My travel post has delayed for a long time. Finally, I have time to blog about it.
On the 1st of March 2010, I flied to Kota Kinabalu by Air Asia. The promotional price offered me RM340 (return flight + hotel with breakfast). I thought it was a great deal.
Arrived in Kota Kinabalu airport around 9am. There are 2 terminal in KK. Terminal 1 is for MAS Kargo and terminal 2 is for Air Asia. The airport is comparative much smaller. The check in and out procedure is also simpler, perhaps local tourists gain a priority trust.
Airport View
The airport is a double tackled building. Second floor consists of restaurants, offices, cafe and souvenir shops.

There is variety of tourist agencies sitting at their counters. Plenty of brouchers are nicely displayed on rack or desk which you can take freely.
Free and Easy is the best choice. After looking at the tourism package offered by those agencies, you will be stunned by their offered price. For instance, it costs RM200 to visit a cultural village, including lunch. Hence, if you have few attractive spots to visit, you ought to spend up to RM1000 for visitation solely.
A map on hand makes travel easier. Honest speaking, travel in KK wasn't a difficult task. The road is not complicated, mostly a long and straight road to reach a destination.
We got our rented car at the airport, and started our travelling back to our hotel. The hotel called Sri Borneo. It located at the shop lot, in the centre of city. It was so convenient for us to travel from places to places in town.
The first meal of the day was local Chinese food situated in front of our hotel. Firstly, they did not quite understand our Malay. Their slang sounded Filipino. We ordered chicken rice and "gong lou" noodles (dry noodles)
The food in KK is not cheap. The price can compare with Kuala Lumpur, some even more expensive than KL. A plate of chicken rice and dry noodles costed RM5 each.
The taste was normal standard.

Our transport is a silver kancil. Looked closely at the number plate, started with "S". My first question is "why so many singapore cars here?" It was just a joke of a day, because I forgot that S is stand for Sabah. >.

Parking ticket displayed on screen
We were blurred how to buy parking ticket. After asking, we got the answer. It was different than other places. We did not need to buy parking ticket, because the inspector will put it on your screen. When you about to leave, you have to pay at the counter.
Interestingly, they counted by hour and minutes. They won't count you extra, the honest act. Haha.
First day we planned for city tour. We went to Signal Hill Observation Tower. From top, we able to see the full view of Kota Kinabalu. It was super damned hot in KK, mainly due to the North South Sea.
Behind the buildings are a piece of SEA. Blue-ish sky and sea make prefect scenery.

We got no further delayed, we went to see The Clock Tower. Why historian like to make tower for memorial purpose? The tower is for St Atkinson.

Afterwards, we moved toward State Museum. We spent few hours here because it comprises of museum, science and technology centre, art gallery, and heritage village.
The entry fee is only few ringgit for local, but foreigners ought to pay more.
I didn't post all the pictures I had taken. I just put on some pictures that I like for sharing. Those are pictures took in the surrounding area.
Museum Sabah
Most of the museum, they are more likely to display traditional dress of different ethnics, why?
This museum was worth visiting, for sure. (personally, I like the quiet and air conditioned environment. Furthermore, they put nice music)
Heritage Village
There is a sort of "canopy walkway" to enter this area. It was purely nature. It consists of different houses by different ethnics during ancient times.
Tanjung Aru
At 7pm, the sky in KK is already turned dark. I felt like the day has passed so fast, in fact it was only 7pm.
Waterfront
We had Irish Food after much choosing. There is a row of restaurants situation at the waterfront. It was hard to make decision.
Tenon Coffee - the coffee taste wasn't strong enough.
The sandwishes were in large portion. Quite delicious
Day 1 is ended.
Discovery: A lot of Esso Petrol Station in KK, which hardly found much in KL...
Much more to come for Day 2 soon...
